Hi I've had my 500 pop for just over a year and ever since it's had a problem with the indicators. They flash fast inside the car but normal outside and shows a fault light on the dash. I've changed the bulbs thinking someone may of fitted LEDs but not I've put all brand new standard bulbs in. It's not a problem with MOT as just passed with it like it as bulbs flash normally outside.
I did notice o e of the side repeaters the plug was rusty but not the other side. Would that show up as a fault and show a dashboard light.
Hope someone can help. I can't seam to find anyone else with the problem so obviously not a common thing on a 2010 fiat 500 pop.
Thanks

Any corrosion in bulb receptacles can cause all sorts of problems, because it can cause a poor earth to that bulb.

Long shot here: but have you checked the wattage of each of the bulbs. If you have a wrong wattage or faulty wattage bulb the ECU maybe sensing a low current draw, and hence give the error you're seeing? In fact it may even be a poor loom connection or earth (as mentioned by @ZaphodB ) only allowing a low current to pass.

Is it both left and right indicators doing this, or just one side?

Hi yes does it on both indicators and with the hazards on. The drivers side bulb plug has got rust all over it been told that could do it aswell.

I guess it would be wise to check out the infamous boot boot and the wiring within

Not sure on the complete list of symptoms that can produce.

I'm going to try that first as that's obvious rust. I've asked thew other people and they say it could do it. But all indicators are bright and changed every bulb for new standard ones but didn't make a difference

Anyone know if the flasher relay is still a bi-metal one, or are they flashed by the ECU? If so the audio warning (the clicking) will be just a piezo cell also powered from the ECU, which I would expect on later models.
For earlier versions pre/post versions I would also expect the ECU is controlling the flashing and flash rate, but the clicking may just be a bimetal relay that the ECU powers up for an audio signal (because they had thousands in stock), in which case the flashing is normal as it's controlled by the ECU, but the bi-metal relay has gone rogue.

Just a thought.
