If there's any chance you can get it to my mechanic friends in Ripon (they do MOTs too) a cash deal could be happily sorted. Let me know if you want me to have a word with them
Finally, new radius arms, brake cable and track rod ends done and.....
small fanfare (but a quite big bill) MOT passed
went for a rather fast drive in the rain along a few of my favourite roads for 2 hours to celebrate!
I have to say the nankangs held the very wet roads well, being used to revving the heck out of cinqy I certainly didn't hold back with Fizz. The steering and turn in ability is simply better than any other car I've owned. Just wants a few more horses under the bonnet (engine swap with cinqy?) to keep it moving better up hills.
While we all moan about the MoT it is very rare to see cars in the gutter with wheels fallen off etc these days; so in most ways it is a good thing.
A bit like medicene, we hate taking it but know it is good for us.
Ultimatey the Panda will last longer with it's new bits. It will get used more and provide more joy.
You obviously need a few donor cars for those expensive spares
I took Fizzle over to Halifax on a recce for a new home - I have relatives over there and it's about 50k cheaper than York.
Anyway despite Cinqy managing on a previous visit, the hills and always a sharp bend turning onto the road at the top' Fizzle rather let the FIAT side down. I struggled to get him up hills and most times ended up in 1st or 2nd with the loud pedal set at max
Now for me by myself it wouldn't be a massive problem but my passenger was terrified!
The whole area put's the MIRA test track to shame, Belgian parve's? try Yorkshire cobbles! I was waiting for bit's to fall off, the dog took to the back seat and the passenger held her neck to stop her head from falling off.
It did give me a great idea for an urban/cross country Panday but I fear the casualty list could be high.
I'm hoping Gertie will cope better with the terrain, in the mean time Cinqy will be for Halifaxual use
hmm from what i remember of my past experience is that on the strait its not so bad. around corners you may need to wind the window down and lean into the corners.
Just a little update - Fizzle is doing a very good impression of a panda van at the moment. Return journeys with a full load are no problem, in fact very smooth on the motorway!
One advantage of the small cinq rims and tyres is no rubbing of the arches.
After a week of driving around the Calder Valley with a little foresight and gear changing Fizz's keeping up (and overtaking at the lights ) traffic with no problems. Sky panda is a little asthmatic in comparison and easily runs out of steam - really must get a 4x4 cam in him!
After investigating a strong smell of petrol I noticed a HT lead arching onto the engine, not the best news on moving day of the last of the house and garage contents!
A quick look by my friendly local (well not local any more) garage confirmed that the unburnt fuel was causing the odour.
After ringing round and visiting all the local(in york) motor factors no joy so risked the run back to Halifax.
Now I can use Sky until I find a friendly motor factors in the calder valley, or even a new addition to the gang on Sunday
Not a happy bunny, found a local motor factors and had to wait for the leads, when it came to fitting them they are wrong, I didn't check them in the shop as they were ordered by reg number so assumed they would be correct. Ordered another set off ebay, hopefully these will be right.
Two classic panda's and both out of action because of lack of parts
Should always get the part number from the VIN on eper or double tripple check they are correct. If you
Ever need a part number and are unsure how to use eper send me the VIN and I can find it for you
