Hi can anyone help I have a Brava 16 sx 1997.It started to make a loud grinding noise and stalled. I thought the timing belt had snaped, the "man from the AA" said it might have jumped. I stripped it down and found that the fixed guide pulley ball bearing spacer was not there. I found it in pieces at the bottom of cover, can I just replace it and will every thing be ok or can there be bigger problems please can anyone advise thanks

do you have pictures of the damage?

as to wether you can just change the belt and pully depends if the belt has slipped or not.

chances are that there is valve damage the only way to find out is to take the head off and have a look.

the cheets way is just to put a new belt and pully on time it up then trun it round by the crank and see if ti gets stuck after 4-5 rotations if it does then there is internal damage if it turns round ok then give it a go at turning it over.

it could be possible that the debry from the pully has droped down and damaged the crank position sensor but it is unlikely.
