having a problem trying to fit a sub in my brava!

managed to easily fit the audio and remote cables together down the drivers/right hand side of the car.

the problem seems to be fitting the power cable!
i cant seem to find a hole or space for the cable to pass through from the battery in the engine to behind the dashboard!

has anyone here fitted a sub to their bravo/a? im looking to fit the power cable down the passenger/left hand side of the car to prevent interference.

been trying to remove the glove box to see if that helps but i cant seem to get it off?!

i passed the live wire inside the passenger front wing, first remove the piece of foam at the top of the wing in the doorway so you can see inside the wing, replace the foam once the wire is through the hole. then to get it into the car use the round rubber seal in the doorway, its inbetween the hinges. getting it into the car is tricky as the hole on the outside is about 4 inches higher than the hole on the inside, and on the inside there is a rubber piece in the way that is full of wires. but it works, and its well hidden once you do it, and there's no need to drill through the bulkhead.

i've been told there is an existing ruber grommit in the bulkhead you can use, but i never found it even after very close inspection.

I managed to get my power cable through a grommit which if you look at the front of the car its on the right. you remove the plastic (black) window/windscreen wiper panel and you'll see two rubber tubes 1 of which normally doesnt have any wires running through it. you should be able to pass the cable through this then the tricky bit of getting a torch inside the passenger footwell and hooking it down with a screwdriver or somet the its easy just to connect the wire to the amp and you have power.. dont forget to disconnect the - cable on the battery!!

its a doddle fitting it throught the grommet, and very neat aswell.... sayin that, i took alomost all of my interior out to run all my cabeling neatly and completley out of the way, and im going o have to pull it all out in a while when i get my new amps for much bigger and better cabeling :D

I just fitted a Sub system in to the boot of my car, It actualy came with a rubber fixment, Take the cable to where you want to drill trow the car, Make sure your only going to drill direct in to the body work of the car and there no cables already going via there, Drill your hole clean the area if you have any use some rush protection on the hole now place the rubber trow the hole and pass your cable trow, Connectet your fuse box (If it came with one if not i advice getting one) Fassen to the under side of the car with fitment of some sort, Ive gluded mine in place along a nice little dent in the under side of the car, Wal la done

I had this problem a while ago. Found the gromit though so all good. I fed it from inside the car up the tube and into the engine bay. I then found the (taped) cable end just under the fuse box lid. Then it was just a case of pulling it through.

Found a gromit in the passenger side footwell, was an absolute bitch to get the wire through. Just glad it's all over with now.

Good luck to anyone trying to attempt this:bang:

Well, I'm going to resurrect this topic because it's perfect for what I'm planning soon. I need to:

a) run a power cable from the battery to the boot

b) run an audio cable from the radio to the boot

c) run a remote from the boot to the driver's seat

If anyone has any pictures of running cables across the car, it would be very helpful. If not, I will probably take some though they will probably be more of an example of how "not" to take apart your car.

So far, I've gathered I need to find a grommet on the passenger side under the carpet. Ummm yeah. So far no one has said it was easy.

This might take a while...

I've done this before and it wasn't too hard. It's best practice tho to keep your power wire away from your signal wires; you don't want intereference on these. I ran the power wire down one side of the car an the signal wires down the other side. It means a bit more work but you get a cleaner signal.

The rubber grommet in the firewall/bulkhead is about the same level as the bottom of the glove box iirc. If you undo the screws on the left hand bit of plastic next to the door the carpet should come away more easily and then you should be able to see said grommet. I punched a hole in it with a screwdriver and then after running the cables sealed it with a bit of silicone sealant.

As far as I can remember, you can see the other side of the grommet from inside the engine bay without too much contortionism.

A tip I picked up wiring buildings with network cable: always leave a spare bit of wire in there (or string, or whatever) going through the cable run up to the firewall, useful for pulling new wires through if you need any more later.

I ran my cables down either side, under the plastic bits next to the door sills, and it was pretty easy. They undo enough to fit a cable under, but I never managed to get them to come off entirely, one of mine just cracked so I was less forceful with the other. The rest of the cable run from there is fairly well hidden and quite easy.

The centre console is pretty easy to remove also, haven't done it myself yet but there's a few guides on how to do it on fiatboo. It would be pretty easy to send cabling through there then under the last stretch of carpet to the back seats.

hth :)

Thanks Joe!

I actually have a friend who's done it on his Punto so I called him up to see if he'd be willing to help out when I do it. When I go through with this, I'll make sure to take loads of pictures to make it easier for others. ;) (though since I'm not in the UK, my Fiat is a lefty :D)

And if anyone's curious, I'll be installing this thing: http://www.talkaudio.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=417&Itemid=54
