General Fitting replacement front bumper?

Hi everyone!

1998 Punto 60s. No spotlamps.

Went to my little elderly friend in the car park outside work after working a night the other morning to find that somebody had run into the front of it.

The front bumper is split horizontally right across, O/S headlamp pushed in (plastic bracket which secures it snapped but headlamp ok), larger gap on one side of bonnet. Quite a heavy bump which has no doubt damaged the offending vehicle (SERIOUSLY I HOPE).

Polite note left on windscreen with contact details of assailant and cheque for £300 to get the damage repaired...... In my dreams....

I live in Merseyside. Found a place on Ebay near Bolton that sells copy parts, front bumper £28 which seems a good deal. £12 post.

My question is: Has anybody fitted a front bumper? I lifted the bonnet and can see two fixing bolts but I have no idea where else it is secured. Can anybody give me some clues what's involved?

you need to jack up the front and take the inner arches out to access 2 bolts either side bolted up into the wing. May also be some along the bottom edge of the, but they are quite often missing.

I believe there are two below the headlamps, so remove them both first to check too.

Other than that is just common sense. Follow where the bumper is fixed to the car and check for bolts.

wasn't any there when i swapped my narrow mouth for a wide mouth bumper... Thats not to say there shouldn't be though, my car should never have had a narrow mouth one so someone has had the bumpers off before me.
