General Fitting a Towbar

hey All :wave: been thinking about getting a towbar fitted so i can get a small trailer to pull a medium sized motorbike, had a look through similar posts but can't seem to find much.

what i'd like to know is, can i fit it myself with a socket set etc. would i have to cut the bumper? and where would i get a cheap one with the electric from?

found a website with some price but they had different prices under these:

can't seem to see anywhere the towbar would bolt on :s

you have to drop the exhaust, some puntos require a strenghthening kit, you can get fitting instructions/diagrams from some sites, some tow bars require the bumper to be cut

yeh found that on a tow site, doesn't need a strengthening kit but still need to know if my punto needs to bumper kit and where i can get a cheap towbar

I had a Witter fitted to my 52 punto, i think it cost about £190 including fitting, and the bumper did not need to be cut. The car was later recalled by Fiat for new plates to be fitted to strengthen the towing supports. Tow bar was not fitted by Fiat dealer, but recall was by Fiat.
I now have one fitted to my Panda, cost, £187.

no good, too expensive i need a cheap second hand 1 but cant see any

witter expensive but best,towsure on ebay offer cheap diy solution.
you need the 2 steel plates to strengthen the bolts that go through floor,they come with the towbar

remember the punto is limited as to kerbweight it can tow,small trailer fine

Hi - I got a detachable one for my BRAVA from ebay £25.00 + £15.00 postage - Bargain might be worth cheching it out

Does anyone know where i can get fitting instructions for my tow hitch?

Sorry John - it wasn't a tow bar supplier - i had meant check out ebay for one - sorry it has been a long day and my thoughhts are a bit disjointed

thats expensive are fiat fitting it. the mk2b has a different bumper you might have to cut a big hole in it

no lol that wasnt fiat, was a local towbar fitting place, but i have found a better company nearby in durham, i can pick the towbar up for £60 and it's brand new, no electrics or towbar but i have that in the garage

if anyone wants their number, let me know

ok, picked the towbar up yesterday, planning to fit it today, few people have put me off fitting it saying it's too hard, to me it seems like a few bolts, you need to drop the zaust a bit and take off the rear bumper, no electrics to do yet as it's for a bike carrier, or is their more to it? don't wanna mess it up because i'm at work at 6, thanks all!

ok well it's finally on properly with strengthening kit etc..

just stuck on the wiring, i have the electric 7 spin socket but no idea where to wire it to, any ideas? thanks!
