I done the classic of driving my multpla through the car wash with the aerial up! It snapped at the base.... Is there the thread from the arial stuck in it, I cant tell.. Do I get A new base bit and antenna? or do I some how get the broken thread out? and screw in a new arial.

(Read about the need to take of the interior light unit inside.. how do I do that!)

Can anyone help, the boss is going made having no radio :)

oh Its a Diesel Multipla Jtd x reg

Hi

I recently changed the aerial in my 2000 Multipla, using instructions that I found on this very site. It is a bit of a fiddle, but if you take your time you'll get there in the end.

Once you've removed the interior light housing, you'll see it was screwed to a black plastic chassis, and that has to come out too (you remove the sunroof trim and slide it out). Then you can just reach through to where the aerial is mounted.

NB you will need a Torx screwdriver and a goot set of small screwdrivers to do all this. It's not difficult, just a bit fiddly. Good luck!

Just replaced mine with a £12 halfrauds jobbie used the original wire , quite easy but yes fiddly i nearly put my daughter on the roof to hold the thing down so i could tighten the nut for it and the black chassis for the light assembly stayed in place.;)

Rather than go to the expense and effort of fitting a new aerial mount, I effected a more straightforward remedy:

Take a junior hacksaw and (carefully and neatly) make a horizontal cut across the top of the mount and the embedded screw residue; then simply unscrew the residue using a small screwdriver. Yes; it'll slightly damage the mount, but nothing to worry about. It's certainly cheaper and easier than replacing the whole shooting match.
