May I warn off anyone thinking of buying Fiat mats from a Bradford based company called Autosynergy Ltd that also trades on ebay under the titles customcarwizard and Hippo Automotive Ltd with web address http://www.hippoautomotive.co.uk and using an email address [email protected] amongst others.
Their fitted mats offered on ebay, list two higher grades Executive and Elegance available by telephone order, not through ebay. I asked for a Christmas discount on their highest grade ‘Elegance’ to match one offered by one of their competitors and placed an order using PayPal with a note describing exactly what I wanted including the named grade together with my delivery address. The mats came and had a printed label saying they were Elegance grade (I took a picture), but when opened on Christmas Day were found to be a lower grade of thin mats with heel mats attached.
On complaining they said they would repay me and cover the return postage. I asked for email confirmation but none came. I escalated the PayPal claim to avoid it being time-barred and they repaid the initial amount but not the return postage of £8.94. They have ignored subsequent recorded delivery letters and emails. Trading Standards have examined the correspondence and say I have a cast iron case under the Sales of Goods Act as being goods ‘not as described’ and are considering taking the claim forward. If they don’t the matter will end up in the County Court and AutoSynergy will also have to pay the costs of the action. I am now of the opinion that this sale was a deception as they have since claimed there are no ‘Elegance’ grade mats in the colour I asked for.
In short from my experience I would say that this is a company people should beware of – there are other traders whose materials are of higher quality and who deliver what is asked for.
