Hello all, me and my mate have just bought an early 2000 seicento sporting with the head gasket gone for the whopping sum of £100! this will be no problem as i am a mechanic, was just wondering what common problems i should look out for? Never driven one, cant wait to get it on the road

None really. The early cars are not OBD2 so you either do without diagnostics and rely on testing the sensors and experience or use ECU Scan 2. But generally the early cars are easier to work on.

As with just about everything, the HG usually goes for a reason -- water leaks from water rail/water rail O ring, water pump are common causes. as are non-OEM thermostats sticking open and non functioning radiator fans (often just an earth fault).

Thankyou, i will be replacing the water pump, timing belt and thermostat anyway aswell as a full service. I have done a couple of punto head gaskets aswell as many k-series so should be no problem
