Had a Fiorino 1.3 multijet ( 30/12/2010) for the last + 90,000 miles .
Purchased C £6k with 11,000 on the clock - just had it's first service
So - the facts of life .
1/ A real pain not having a spare wheel . Not good for anyone to have a blow out in a rural area with near zero mobile signal and 20 miles to the nearest tyre shop - if it happened in the dark - you'd stick your neck in a noose and risk your life walking the lanes to find help or you'd be sleeping in the van until daylight.
Lucky got one of e-bay for £80 ( unused ) + extra for jack/tool set + snow chains , got me home twice - so worth the money.
2/ Goes through a set of front tyres every 10,000 miles - C 50 mpg
3/ 30,000 miles Battery dead - only break down.
4/ 30,000 & 80,000 set brake pads - front
Up to 65,000 miles - quite trouble free motoring in it's child like days but thence forward we enter the problem grumpy old man phase in it's life
5/ 70,000 miles Gearbox - suddenly stopped working - jumping out of gear .
Cost £1200 for a rebuild ( still cheaper than a replacement box ) .
obviously replaced clutch at same time .
6/ 80,000 miles MOT now lists excessive play in steering rack - which is why it wanders a little .
7/ 85,000 miles Heater lights never worked properly ) one or other was always on the blink. - managed in the past with a quick smack to the dashboard , but now no lights no heater , completely packed up.
8/ 90,000 miles - engine warning light on - out until you accelerate - then it's on and engine cuts down to limp
Costs to run including depreciation ( excluding derv) C £2k per year .
From here :-
Time to say g'day and goodbye - save the Road Fund licence at £240 + ( it'd only have been £30 if I'd got the same with side windows ) Insurance at £350 would also have been less.
Been a reasonably good drive , found to be a little bit underpowered for the Devon hills & lanes .
Would I buy another -errrr ...... No.........
