Well after looking loads for a nice doner car! i finally found one with 61k on the clock... nice car drives like new :| and didnt know how fast the 20vt's were until i drove one bk from london today :| they are tooooo fast :|... now gonna save up some money and start the conversion :) ill upload some pictures if i can:)

Is there anything wrong with the coupe?

If there isn't why don't you just sell the bravo and keep the coupe?

nothing wrong with it at all .. got it for a bargin!... the only reason i got it was to put the engine in my bravo i love my bravo dont think i can sell that! lol:) i prefer the bravo better :)

im in the same boat mate :) Love mine to bits, even tho its not the fastest of cars like lol it drives good, handles pretty good and sounds awesome..i dont think i could ever part with it too :) hence it been sat on my drive for a year lol

Good going with the 20vt mate,im not keen on them myself but would only buy 1 to do a conversion in the bravo...as it needs it lol

Should have made them from factory i think :)

yeee! i love the looks on a bravo! n yes they should have put them in factory fitted! got it for £900 :) with full years mot and 3 months tax :D not bad ey! yea i will do deffo once i start the conversion :)

full years mot?! Mate get it taxed in 3 months when it runs out, then by that time you will only have a few months worth of mot left :)

total 9 months worth of running around in a coupe 20vt.You cant seriously scrap it with a years mot (just to do the conversion)

i garentee you, you drive it round for 6 months and you will not want to break a perfectly good coupe.

you may not apreciate the coupe looks right now, but it will grow on you, and has so much more charector than the bravo.

hummm, everyone is doing the 20VT conversion now...lets see who the 1st is to 4WD it..

I think you better hope no-one from FCCUK reads this. ;)
Seriously Keval, don't scrap a good Coupe just for the engine. There are so many out there is scrappers that you should be able to pick one up no worries.

If the situation is still like it was when i did my conversion the problem is that all the broken Coupes get bought up by the breakers on FCCUK who want to charge you 6 times the price of a car for the parts you need.

900 is a good price for a car assuming it not about to die.

i've always said if i were to do it again i would buy a more expensive car to start with, i.e. £3k on a car rather than £6k on replacement parts for a £600 car.

lol yee true but this engine is really good! pulls nice and also holds its oil pressure... well heres some pics of the cars :) hope you like them :D

That's looks sweet and second that, it's too clean to break. Will you be keeping the wheels. ?

As a Coupe owner and a FCCUK member... shame on you for breaking the Porto coop :)

Seriously, I think you're nuts! I put a deposit down on a Porto 20VT about 6 weeks ago but had to pull out due to a possible change with monies. It's a lovely colour for a 90s classic car.

I would question why it was only £900 however. For decent normal 20VTs you should be looking to pay £2k-£3k.

On warm idle, what does the engine pressure read?

yea i understand you lot but i only got a coop because of a conversion and yes i will be keeping the alloys as my alfa speedlinez wont fit over the brembo brakes.... the oil pressure on idle is 2bar which is not bad at all. cheers

2 bar on hot idle is a little below average for a 20vt,

whats the milage?
when were the belts done? (factor the price of the kit in, and do it while the engine is out if it hasnt been done)

have you got the red key? (just in case) ecu swap may require it.

what engine is in your bravo?

Rich

2 bar is pretty good for a hot idle.

mine will dip to 1.8bar after a very hard turbo glowing run but on a normal drive will stick to around 3-3.5 (i have an independant gauge).

as long as it doesnt go below 1.5 bar its fine.

idle speed can have some play on the idle pressure though so if its idling low you will see lower pressure.
