Hey guys

So I just got my license and bought myself a Fiat Uno :) Now the wiper lever snapped off a while back and I managed to turn off the switch by pushing it with a screw driver. Now first things first, I don't know much about cars especially servicing. Now, is the lever (or switch) difficult to change? From the first look that I took, I noticed that the switches for the lights, indicators and wiper are all in one big round compartment after the steering wheel.

Any ideas?

Thanks guys

Changing the stalks is VERY easy :)

Theres 3 8mm bolts on the steering surround that you need to unscrew to get access to the bounty held within. Undo those, then there are 2 screws that secure the wiper arm to the steering column. Once those are undone, take out the plugs at the back.

Refitting the reverse of removal -> plug in cables, screw arm to column, screw on plastic coloum shrowd.

It is very easy; even my gran could do it without damaging her hip. :)

where are these 3 bolts located exactly? Cause I didint find anything around the steering wheel. Do I need to remove the horn cap?

They are on the bottom plastic cover that surrounds the column.

Have a look under there, they are there and they are a 8mm head.
I did this yesterday - one hole is at the back in the middle of the cover, one is near the key ignition and the other is on the left hand side.

Have a look, they are there :)

As Ucof says, it's actually very easy to change the stalks (on a mk2). Take your time and don't force anything and it should all come apart and go back together easily enough. The three bolts you're having trouble finding are in recessed holes on the underside of the steering column shroud. The screwdriver/ driver bit will go in a fair way on the two front holes. By the way Ucof, are they not Philips head type screws in there rather than 8mm bolts?

Nope, I can categorically state they are 8mm bolts with tapered ends like a screw.
Don't think they have a crosshead recess on them either.

Well, mine don't anyway and the bolt in the middle at the end, is slightly longer than the other two.

:)

not seen them with 8mm heads before, easy job to do, get a spare first and you will get an idea looking at that how it comes off
