I found this interesting page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_bestselling_vehicle_nameplates

Look for vehicles that have sold in one style (like the Model T Ford), rather than multiple generations (there aren't many!) The Uno did of course have a facelift, so if you prefer to think of it as two generations, you can... but even so...

The Lada is a surprise!

But then the Lada was actually a Fiat 124, which was also facelifted once or twice.

The Stilo will definitely be a 'one nameplate' model. Fiat wants to bury that name at all costs. It won't however be in the high sellers.

My favourite car of all time is, not in the list of course as there were only 500 made, but is a one nameplate car is the mythical Lancia Stratos. This is the car that inspired me to become a car designer. And soon I will have one. When I say soon I mean someday.

The list does not include DDR-made Trabant, which was manufactured from early sixties to 1990 with only minor changes.
More than 3 millions of Trabants were produced in two variants, sedan and station wagon, but they had the same designation - Trabant 601.
The cars had their 15 minutes of fame when the Berlin Wall came down in 1989 and U2 used it on their world tour about a year later.
This car can be compared to e.g. Citroen 2CV or Renault 4 - just like "the Duck", it was designed to be the simplest and the cheapest car on the market. And, just like the 2CV, Trabi still has many fans, who pow-wow every year in the German town of Zwickau.
BTW, Trabant handles much better than the Duck.

I was reading something recently about the once bestselling - now rarest cars on the road, and the mk1 uno came 6th or similar...apparently there were 190,000 on the road in the UK at its prime and now there's something like 7,000 left...(n)

Uno on that position amongest other giants is amazing:eek:

Well fiat must have made some money out of it...

Oh...and this reminds me about their dealership and sevice staions ..:bang: :bang: ...Horrible..(n)

Despite those drawbacks, this much uno's had been sold and it's truly amazing...:slayer:

Unfortunately Fiat doesn't really make much money out of anything. Too many overheads and Italian business acumen. The Uno was a huge success and made Fiat Europes No.1 but then it all went wrong. You can now find Fiat in about 5th or 6th position after everyone else...............M.
