Hi everyone (new today ) so thought had say hi to yawl So hi everyone,and ask a question to so here goes, I have a fiat tipo 1.4 ie L reg its running very rich (wish I was) using loadsa petrol tried gettin it on a computer at a few different garages but with it being a 1994 they dont seem to have the software for it I was told it could be the landa? switch or the catylic convertor or the ecu (the mind boggles) as anyone on here got any ideas please, they would be much appreciated also is there anywhere I can turn down the petrol/air mixture as Ive no idea, I realy dont wanna start buying bits and find out its not that...:bang: theres no leaks anywhere as I can see on the petrol pipe/pipes or injector/injectors.....many many thanks....pete
 
Ok I don't think it will be the cat, as the lambda sensor is before the cat.

If the lambda has not been replaced then it's likely to have gone faulty. Don't buy a 'universal' type as they're nothing but trouble from what other owners have said.

Before you start changing the lamba, you need to look at other sensors that the lambar reads off. the throttle pot sensor and air sensor at the single injecter unit might be faulty or dirty. With overfueling, its possible the lamba and cat are now damaged. You need to find a garage who can read the codes. A good bosch agent or fiat independent should be able to sort you out. Money well spent. :)

cheers Andy have already changed the lambda an put a new one on it knocked the emissions down from 9.sommat to o.5 but its still only doin about 23 to the gallon????? will try get it onto a computer this week to find out what the problem is...many thanks...pete

Hey gotta slot tmoz at a garage they gonna do a dignostics on it what happens if they dont find anything wrong with it (just a thought) let yer know later what happens.....cheers..pete

got there today tried all the fiat data things on it but none worked ( couldnt read control unit) so none the wiser although the garage did suggest I check the time-ing and if that dont work use thee old multi meter test on everything takes a lot longer ladies an gents but somethings gotta show up (I hope) other than that they couldnt tell me anything else ...........so can anyone tell me what does a fiat tipo 1.4 ie normaly do to a gallon??? a know theyre better on a long run cause there isnt much stoppin n startin an stuff but am sure round town an that they must do more than 23/4 to the gallon anyway if a find anythin out bout mine al post it on here so for now many thanks Hellcat and sumplug al be back soon......pete
