Hello. I have a Fiat Scudo Dangel, which is a 2WD originally, but is now a 4WD, hence its name Dangel. It is a 2013 model. I ordered wheel bearings to the right back side (rear), which turned out to be wrong. Car parts dealers are unable to find the right part. This I now suspect is due to it being a 4WD. So my question is, if I order wheel bearings for the front axle, will this also fit the rear axle? Are the wheel bearings the same on all 4 wheels?

Is the Dangel the name of the company doing the conversion to 4wd as they would be the best people to advise.
If not in a hurry I would remove the old bearing and read the numbers from it, then source the bearing from a bearing specialist.
I once did that on a Iveco and the bearing from the dealer was twice the price of the same SKF bearing from a specialist.

Hi. Thank you for the reply. Dnagel, they wasnt interested in giving me any help at all. I called them, and they said they only worked with companies. So, they could not even give me a part number number.

That's pretty poor of them.:( Still now we know what 4x4 "specialist" to avoid;)
If you have got it all stripped out then can you measure and read the details of the old bearing/bearings and order from a bearing specialist as I have done in the past.
They can do it from the details from old bearings as companies like that Dnagel lot will not have made their own bearings, just bought the size they wanted from another supplier.

Any pictures of the parts or the 4wd set up, people on here might be able to help you identify where the parts came from (ie if they were just used from a different car) and help you narrow down your search ?

Or look for part numbers on the parts around the bearings drive shafts etc to see if they are common with other vehicles.

Yeah, I agree. It would take them 1 minute, and this car is over ten years old so I really think they should use discretion. Now I need the rear ABS part number, as well :)

Thanks for the reply. I cant see any part number, its so rusty ;) But i can take pictures, yes .

It seems that I need to replace that as well, because I will maybe destroy it when I dissamble the wheel hub :)
I am a bit confused, you are trying to identify your rear wheel bearing on a 4x4 conversion, the company that did the original conversion are no help, you have taken the bearing to match it up but are worried it may damage the ABS?
There are several types of ABS sensor operation depending on how it gets the signal.
Unless you short the terminals on the sensor at the wheel you are unlikely to damage the ABS pump/ECU which is the main expensive bit.
So do you know how your ABS sensor gets it's signal to send to the ABS computer?
Some use an external vane type thing that is registered by the sensor and some use a magnetic type that is usually in the end of the bearing in line with where the sensor pick up is fitted. It may not be obvious, just a black plastic ring where you would expect a built in oil seal on a bearing.
The first type shouldn't be a problem when ordering a bearing as most good nearing shops just take measurements and give you that bearing.
The second type is basically the same in that the shop measures it, the only difference is you ask them to supply the ABS version that has the magnetic ring in the end of it.
Normally if the bearing is thoroughly cleaned the numbers to recognise it are engraved in the metal at the ends.
If you are just going to ask for a fiat part from a stockist you are probably wasting your time, it needs to be a bearing specialist, not just someone who looks up Fiat in his book.;)

On this car the the wheel hub had to be dissambled before I could continue the job, and therefore I also needed to remove the ABS sensor, which was old and rusty (thats why i damaged the ABS sensor) . It was stuck in its hole, and got broken. I didnt know bearing specialists even existed, but I learned my lesson now and will remember that for the future :) Thank you for the reply, I appreciate it.
