I see fiat have reintroduced the sporting to the current punto range but it appears to be rather lacking compared to our Grandes.

For starters they have dropped the multiair turbo and the 1.6 diesel so all you can have is the 1.4 8v 77bhp that powers many a lower spec Grande punto or the 1.4 multiair non-turbo with 105bhp. Hardly a sporting engine line up I'd say.

Also, compared to the Grande, the 16inch wheels look tiny and of course the styling isn't as good.

If that's the best Fiat can do with the punto the sooner they kill it off the better. I mean to launch a new model that is worse than one from 7 years ago is just astonishing.

I read there was a huge drop in sales when they facelifted it to the Evo, after all looks are clearly a major selling point of the GP.

With the completely new Punto due in the next year or so they probably arent that interested in the current model, especially if it isnt selling well.

Maybe that has something to do with it?

The GP was getting ready for an update, they just made a mess of the exterior.

If they had stuck the Evo interior and engine updates in something with milder exterior changes it would have been fine

Just read that the Alfa mito is due to be facelifted and its production will continue until 2016. Since it is basically a Grande punto in a party dress it will be an eleven year old design by then.

I also read at one point that there will be no new punto. Apparently the fiat badge isn't premium enough to sell anything more expensive than pandas and the 500 sub-brand is being stretched to cover larger cars (500l etc).

It's down to their complete lack of advertising on any other car.

Also they still have a shocking rep, and the depreciation is eye watering. Apart from the 500 puff course.
