500 Fiat radio issue

Hi I'm new and have a Fiat 500. This little black number with creme interior was just sub 2 years old when the radio completely packed up.
Fiat warranty (apparently) states radio not covered beyond 2 years, in what is otherwise a standard 3 year warranty. Didn't rush to make the call as I assumed it would be covered in the 3 year warranty.
Fiat not interested in discussing at all - £430.00 for a new one!

Anyone else had any similar experiences as I do seem to read of some 500 radio issues?

Not personally and not heard of it either.

Sadly the warranty is not really a standard three year one. The third year is more limited. If the dealer told you otherwise then you have the glimmer of a possibility of getting somewhere.

Basics first, check fuses and have the wiring checked out before you go replacing bits

Then if it is faulty can you not get a second hand one off eBay or something? Worth a try.

If you don't have B&M I'd swap out to an aftermarket unit. $100 will get you something much better than stock. If you have B&M you can get an adapter cable to still use the wheel controls, voice activation is a gimick anyway, and I hate the way it insists on displaying the track title on the MFD and GPS screen rather on the one logical place, the headunit!

There are headunits that have styling that won't look too out of place in a 500 if that matters to you. I'll probably eventually get a Kenwood KIV-700 or similar, I'd like orange lighting though. Alpine make quite a similar one but it's red/green illuminated, Pioneer's has adjustable RGB illumination but I like it least

I'll be getting the Kenwood for my Jeep soon, and if I like it, another for UFI, I can change the LED's to orange myself I guess.
