I've got a MK2 Punto (2000/W Reg) and it has the standard 100W sub, and originally came with the standard Blaupunkt radio/cassette. All was fine and it sounded great. I then bought a Sony CD/iPod headunit, and i'm sure it was all working fine to begin with (I never noticed anything.) However I did notice over time that the sub appeared to be 'rattling' when working, not always but often. The other day I noticed it didn't seem to be working atall sometimes, and it sounded as if it was working on/off throughout songs. I fiddled with the wire at the top and it was in properly, I also removed a little clip thing (is that a fuse of some sort? :S) located next to the wire and re inserted it, this made no difference. I tested it the other day with the boot open and fiddle with the wire at the top again to see if anything happened, when I tested it with a song your could hear the sub rattling really badly, sounded absolutely dreadful!

Now it seems it's not working at all and all the bass is comign from the speakers, all of the spekers in the car are standard. Has anyone heard of anything like this before? Or anyone know a fix? I think I'm going to have a play in a minute and try taking off the casing around the sub and having a fiddle. Does it sound like the sub may have blown? Or is it possibly to do with the new head unit?

Any help much appreciated!

Ive recently fitted a standard subwoofer and i have a Sony HU and ive found mine only works when its on the Radio, wehn i use a CD or AUX input the Sub doesnt work??

As for the rattling i think that might mean the sub has had it, i'm no expert so dont chuck it yet!

I have the same thing, my tuner works on my sony bluetooth radio but the sub doesnt work when playing music through the bluetooth connection to my phone, i dont have a solution as of yet but im going to have a search for answers!
