Tuning Fiat Punto Exhaust Idea, Help & Advice Please

Will try the reverse mount as a tempoary fix.

I really would like it raised up by about 3inches. Guess a trip to the garage is in order, or a bi of manual bending . .

How much would a new one of those rubber things cost, couple of quid? does anyone know the proper name for them?

no idea what the proper name is you cant get punto ones in halfords though, my garage ordered me one so it must be a prertty standard thing and yes a couple of quid.

ah found the pics, sportex are generally pants, i'd go to a custom exhaust place they'd be able to sort it, there's one in enfield, they can make a pipe and cut your existing one which they'd attach that to which would clear the axle better and suspend the backbox higher up

yeah i emailed them to see how much a centre pipe would be and they said 120 squids , but then you gotta pay for quality,

we are prime examples of what happens when you don't pay top wack for exhausts

i'll be totally pleased with mine when i wedge something between the axle and pipe to shut the banging noises up, i still get it when going over bumps etc. then leave it because im sick of it

I'm going to buy a new rubber gromit, reverse mount it, tighten all clamps and pray its ok for the mean time.

I've done my speakers (quite well IMO) would like to fit the 3dr Bumpers on my 5dr (black colour coded) and tint the rear windows. But if the banging persists i'm going to purchase a standard fiat back box and leave the car alone!!

Right so i guess the general consensus is that sportex dont fit that well...

So im looking at Ashley back boxes which are cheaper... Does anyone have an Ashley that they would like to say anything about? What do they sound like, and do they fit alright? (i know Doovydoo's fits well)

well last night my sportex decided it didn't like my car anymore and fell off!! we'll the centre exhaust clamp area failed and ended up dragging my sportex home

With lots of floristry wire and some gun gum i managed to get it in place. Now it sits nicely up high, no banging!!! But its only a tempoary fix. Taking it back to the garage that fitted it last time, either get them to fix it or demand my money back!!!

Trist, if you can get under your car and rotate the pipes (where the back box meets the old exhaust) it raise the band in the pipe.

Will post some picutres of my crap bodge job tonight!!

Bugger, guess i wont be getting a catback from ashley then lol. Does anyone know of any half decent, not too loud catback systems for under £200?

Supersprint are worth the extra cash, the fit is excellent and the sound is just what you are after!
Sell your sportex and get a supersprint.

Yes. There the only systems I would buy from no on. They don't sound loud while driving normally and only get louder when you put your foot down. But not overly loud. Also give good performance gains.
