Hi guyz , new member from Melbourne Australia here .
I have 2014 Fiat Punto 1.4 dualogic and it’s not downshifting 4 out of 10 times for which I have to turn of the car in the middle of the road and restart to make it go in first gear .
Also it seem like high rpm if I go on freeway with 100km cruise set .
plz see attached picture of speedo
3300rpm on 100km cruise set .
Is it high rpm or normal for a 1.4non turbo ?.
Is my clutch worn out
I have screenshot from one scanner related to clutch .
Plz advise .
Thanx

Fuel economy is not good 6.5L/100km .
Rpm 3300 @100km .
Either clutch plate slipping or clutch not fully depressed.
I need ur guyz opinion .

Thanx for reply varesecrazy
62mph =100kmh . And yes I haven’t owned this car for long .
My 2005 honda civic 1.3 stays on 2000 rpm @ 100kmh .

I think 3300rpm is high for 60mph or 100kmh

Previously I had an 2006 punto dualogic diesel it's sit below 2000rpm#100km .
I understand petrol is high rpm engine but still 3300rpm @60mph or 100kmh seems high

Anyone with 1.4 and dual logic can confirm rpm range ?.
Its a rare car now in the UK

BUT the gearbox wont be much diffetent to a conventional 5 speed Manual

( yes the Diesel probably revs lower)

With a Manual you can obviously lift off the throttle at a steady 100k/ 62mph and revs and speed will SLOWLY fall..

Really the dualogic should do that too..

If the revs tumble..but speed doesnt ..
then a clutch issue is possible

Engine noise on freeway at 62mph/100kmh feels like its revving high waiting for next gear to engage .

Foot off accelerator with cruise set 100kmh with 5th gear , rpm not dropping below 3100rpm no matter uphill or downhill.
All my other cars @100kmh are near 2000rpm or below .
If Somebody with 1 4 dualogic can confirm rpm with there speeds .

Dualogic is just an automated gear selector.
Gearbox is still regular C514.5, MANUAL.
You could swap the selector for normal one (manual version), convert the car (in theory - electronics is the problem, not mechanics).
Speeds are OK for real manual (example: gear 5, speed 110 km/h = 3500 RPM). Yes, it's a bit "high", but that's normal.
That's why there are C514.6 versions with 6th gear (and this is the one for highways, 5-gear version is more for city use).

Search Google for "fiat dualogic".
Also YouTube (there are videos - clutch swap, selector teardown, repair etc.)!
Search for basic maintenance info (it's hydraulic right? - there is oil, maybe you should change/add some)...

Your fuel consumption is actually GOOD (about 6-7 L per 100 km). You have no clue (expectations are too high). Newbie to the Fiats?
Grande/EVO (whatever) engines, are based on old FIRE family, from 1980's! C-series gearboxes too.
Don't expect too much (economy, smooth operation etc.). Don't compare to modern cars (especially turbo diesels with 6-speed or more gearboxes).

My friends yaris 1.3 auto do a little wheel spin when launch hard but no matter how many time I have tried but my punto always launch like it's clutch is not fully engaged in short bogged launch.

So..

Whose 'automatic kit' is on this?

last I drove one it was the same French built gearboxes..originally developed by Ford and FIAT

I think you are comparing apples to oranges here.. ;-)

I m not disrespecting fiat , I am just asking if this is normal for dualogic 1.4 punto ?.
Because too me its seems like restrictive.

Hey guyz got a used low klm dualogic gearbox from wreckers for 750 aud with 2 months warranty .
