Ive had this 54 Reg Punto since October 2007 when it had 80,000 !!!miles on the clock. A few weeks after purchase the green management light came on and later the red steering light also appeared with the steering very difficult to use (ok so we all know of this problem) However switching the ignition off for a few mins would cure the steering light more often than not or after a hour or two parked. The green management light which I put down to the air flow meter would cure itself after a few days running . This situation would go on and off for a week or two and then no problem . Well not untill October / November 2008 when the same problems arose and in the same months in 2008, 2010 and its just happened again in 2011 !!!
I dont understand it unless its the damp weather. The car was bought new by the previous owner In October !!!
The car is main dealer serviced has now done 105,000 miles
Running costs are minimal I had a new clutch and front brakes soon after I bought it (it had been used as a driving school car ) since a water pump and three tyres. Flys through its MOTs and turns me over 70 MPG !!!
As usual this time of year I scan Ebay for price of Steering Pump etc but will it happen.
No one can explain this anyone else had a similar experience. Maybe its programmed to show a fault every 12 months EKKKKKKKKK !!!!!!
