My last thread got closed because the thread did not get to no where lol and i did not even get a chance to reply how Stupid so i decided to open an alternative thread to that.
Ok now where was i ....
Iv found out that the corsa before 07 shape had the speed meter to 140mph even if it was 1.0 (which i saw earlier at autotrader) LOL.... so thats cleared.
Ok i know about induction kit,.... is NOS legal tho? i found one for £555.00 http://www.express-enterprise.co.uk/nos-full-kit-p-2498.html?osCsid=rob2hlfd35fjobbk4vj2md36s2 is that a cheap prize?
Thanks.
Come on guys, it is funny, but CHSajid is obviously a little naive when it comes to the mechanics, and this is one of the best places to learn. Would you rather have a cheap laugh now, or the satisfaction of educating an inexperienced member to become a valuable contributer to the forum?
CHSajid, I am sorry for my little joke about the 55s speedometer. I hope we can actually share some useful knowledge with you. I shall re-iterate that for top speed, you do not get a Fiat. The Fiat group owns Ferrari to take care of the high-speed end of the market.
Clearly, you are interested in increasing the top speed of your vehicle, which comes down to increasing the power to drag ratio rather than power to weight.
First - reduce drag by fixing any loose trim or panels. If you have alloy wheels, there is not a lot you can do, but if you have steel wheels with trims, try to get trims which are perfectly smooth rather than with holes to reduce turbulence at the wheels. Push down the ariel as flat to the body as possible. Streamline any bits that stick out using sticky tape to make a smooth profile. And, of course, keep tyres pumped up to specified pressure.
Second - increase POWER. There are things you can do with engines, and things you can not. Changing the number of valves or modifying to a twinport configuration is near impossible, so forget about doing this. There are also things on ebay like chips and electric superchargers which are little more than resistors and CPU cooling fans, which will just damage your car. Things you can do is invest in a good induction kit, a high-volume exhaust system and an engine remap (if you have a programmable ECU). A good-quality NOS kit will give you yet more power, but these are expensive to maintain and the head gaskets are not the most resistant to excess pressure in the Puntos.
That should be plenty for you to read up about now. Good luck, and be safe.
Mike
