General Fiat Panda Cross

Our regular 4x4 will cope with more than we are going to throw at it.

I'm not keen on the 'butch' looks and unless you are doing serious mud plugging I think you'll look like a bit of a plonker in one.

Interesting what doctorchris says about the Duster.

I had a deposit on one, until I drove it , and after I cancelled my order and began to read the tales of rusty woe on the Dacia forums I was pleased I made the right decision. Dacia/Renault has even replaced nearly new cars because of rust, but it just seems to keep coming. Terrible.

But, I do believe that Fiats are too expensive now, and the regular component failure and costs incurred in replacement, plus the poor warranty, have caused me to jump ship.

The Panda is currently Fiat's most attractive car, for me, and when it gets the 105 TA, and the right kit at the right price, I might take a look in three years when I come to replace my lovely new car, but the whole motoring world will be very different then. And it needs to have the right kit - at the right price!

Not yet specified but there are pix of it in that colour, which is very nice. But still........£15500......you can get 2 discounted base models for that - which is also 4 wheel drive. Two on each car.

I've been away from this forum for a bit - what's gone wrong deeyup?

I've had enough of Fiats poor customer service.
You may or may not be aware of my stop/start problems. Whilst slowly rolling along the other day down hill with the motor off (stop start had cut in) in traffic, eventually the vacuum eventually disappeared due to repeated braking.
I knew what was happening, but I'd my wife had been driving she may have panicked thinking brake failure.

Fiat will not pay my dealer to properly diagnose the fault as it's intermittent, and stop/start works fine everytime they have it in.
I can see from their point of view,they can't spare a technician to drive around for hours waiting for the fault to show up.

I also have the ever so common rear disc brake squeal. Fiats official answer is to change the rear brake pads, even though mine have plenty of meat on them. At my expense.
Well, they can shove it!

Just today I've ordered a new car, so the panda is up for sale.
It's a shame, as I love the little thing. The little annoyances drive me mad every day though.

Soon find out. There aren't many TA 4x4 up on autotrader at the mo. The cheapest is from motorpoint. A standard car in red. £8995

I'd imagine I could ask for more than that in account of all my options.
Leather wheel/stick. Seat height adjuster, winter pack, 5 seats, spare wheel, removable tow bar. Tomtom port including blue and me tomtom 2.

The black roof may attract? I've also the second set of wheels as a sweetener but could sell those separately.

I may not even sell the fiat for a bit. The effectively free running of the leaf means I'll be no worse off if I keep it, insurance aside.
Watch the used values firm right up if we get snow this winter.

The salient points are:
redesigned bumpers to increase the approach angle and whatever the right term is for the opposite, though I must say the front looks chunkier than the standard car and I'm surprised it gives more clearance;
ground clearance, below the exhaust, increased by 1 cm to 16 cm;
the transmission control, with one position sounding the same as the ELD button on the standard 4x4, and the other giving a form of descent control;
aesthetics, such as different fog lights, roof bars, body protection, red toe-hooks (big deal).

He didn't mention whether or not climate control is standard.

Still dislike the interior. Another FIAT faux-pas. Just when in-car touchscreen/GPS become viable, they dump the Mk3 Panda interior in which it would have been ideally placed on the dash (like the new Citroen C1 and Renault Twingo).


I thought the Cross would be dear at £16000 (and it is) but then I saw an advert for a Vauxhall Mokka, which was the same money.


That red 2010 Cross on Autotrader at £10000 looks a better bargain - why hasn't that been snapped up?
