Technical Fiat palio overfeuling

Hi you guys how are you. I have a problem with my fiat palio 1.2 mpi. The car overfeul, in the morning when it`s cold you can see a black smoke comming from the exhaust and you can smell the feul. When the car is on temperature there is no smoke but you still smell the feul. And sometimes when I shift down to stop the car backfires. Is there anybody who can help me, Thank you guys.

I had similar issue with a customers Nissan Micra and it was to do with the engine thermostat, on those it was a known fault and a pice of wiring and a new sensor was the amswer.
See if diagnostics are giving strange reading re engine temp.
