Technical fiat multipla 2003 1.4 unleaded diagnostic problems

Hi,
having problems with my fiat multipla m reg 1.4 unleaded. Diagnostic checks have come up with the following errors 1) misfires on cylinder 3 2) short on injector 3. Has anyone any idea what fault codes these problems relate to. The car has just been in for an MOT but has failed on omissions. The garage is struggling and i'm trying to reduce the rapidly increasing repair bill.

But seems a back to front way of going about it.

For the misfire, I'd start the engine in the dark and look under the bonnet -- any flashes (usually blue) indicate the problem: I'd suspect plug leads.

For the short, first, swap the problem injector with one of the others (note which!), if the error moves to that cylinder, you need a new injector. If not, trace back the wiring from the injector with the short -- visually, you should see damage. Replace that secion of the wiring (solder a new section in and use heatshrink -- Maplins, for example) to insulate the join.

You can clear error codes by disconnecting the battery -ive for a few minutes.
