Hi
The performance from my Marea is very 'flat'. It runs smoothly enough, but doesn't perform like it should.

I've changed the plugs and filters. I've fed it some injector cleaner, and I've even taken it to my local dealer (Grays of Warwick), and they couldn't find anything, although they did agree that the performance was less than good.

The diagnostic check didn't show anything, and Grays even swopped an airflow meter from another car onto it, in case the diagnostic got it wrong.but without any sucess. The care runs very smoothly, with no signs of any hesitation or mis-fire.

Any Ideas??

Angus

Hi Angus and welcome to our forum :D

Strange one that. Two things spring to mind. The fuel pressure regulator may be a bit low or the ECU has been reset and the car ragged during the learning period.
First thing I would try is to reset the ECU and then drive nice and steady for about 300 miles. This should set the ECU up to give better performance when asked, if the car is driven hard during the first 300 miles it sets the ECU up to expect high revs for everything and so doesn't have anything left when you want to play.

I have a similar problem. I have just upgraded from a 1.6 to a 2002 2.0l 20v 155 and so far i find the acceleration poor and flat especially from 70 - 80 mph in 5th gear. Lowere down the rev range it is quite responsive but hit 4000 rpm and it just sits there!Fuel consumption also seems quite low. I know the 2.0l is heavier on fuel but i did expect better performance. Car has done 47k and also runs fine.
Would an ECU reset help? air filter seems OK not sure about the plugs yet.
How do you reset the ECU?

how did it go with the car problems? my marea 155 has the exact problem as trumpeters car! I need to know!

I have send him a PM also.. but if anyone knows the solution for the problem I'm very thankful! :)

the guy i'm looking for is trumpeter...he has the exactly the same problem as I. so if you don't have anything helpful to say why don't you just quit posting in this thread!

this the same problem as I have! I hope someone knows what was wrong and keep the discussion to whats in the thread. I don't have over 7000 posts so I just don't know all the features on this board...okay? (y)

some how i dont think you will get a reply

Sorry for the late reply i've been away over Christmas and new year.
PM sent.

Nothing major was done to correct my problem.
I put in a K&N air filter and a couple bottles of injector cleaner and it sorted itself out.
Got cambelt change and full service tomorrow at power fiat so will let you know any further improvements.
