Technical Fiat fault Code C1200

Hi,

Wondered if anyone could help? My car has started to loose power and shudder a bit making a slight growning noise and the red engine light is on on my dashboard. All the oil and other fluid levels are fine. I have had the breakdown people out today and am currently waiting to be towed home.

The guy who first came out plugged it into a laptop and said that it had a fault and that the code was C1200 but the deffinition said Code not known - please refer to car service manual. The system he used was Engine Check from Gendan.

I cant see anything in the manual or on the internet so see what the problem could be.

Any ideas?

Hi, welcome to the FF.

Fault codes starting with the letter C are chassis codes and therefore nothing to do with the engine. It could relate to something like ABS brakes, suspension, steering, climate control, security or In Car Entertainment etc.

The number 1 indicates that it's a manufacturer specific code which I don't think the Gendan can read. It may be that you or the breakdown guy has missread the code.

The shuddering and "loss of power" and an engine management light relating to chassis, With what Davren said it could be steering

Does the steering light also come on?

C1200 is ABS generic but a 1XXX code is manufacture specific.....you need to go to fiat dealer.
