Fiat engine OBD

Hi,
I am from India and I own a car which has a engine sourced from Fiat. Its the 1.3 MJT [75bhp, 190NM ]. I am trying to connect to the OBD but i am not able to because my ELM327 is disconnecting stating that Unable to connect. Can anybody direct me to the protocol that is followed in the ECU of this engine

Follow the posts Ive made, especially regarding setting the headers etc.

If that works, you are good to go.. let us know how you get on - should be able to help.

If it still doesnt connect, straight after the interface fails issue a ATBD - that will dump the buffer to the serial port and show what (if any) data has been sent/recieved.

thanks for the input,but when i try to issue the commands that you gave, this is the buffer dump i get:
