Hello, im new to the group and need help. I have a 1999 fiat Ducato 2.5D camper van and am having trouble with the horn.
Every time i turn the wheel it keeps beeping. I have taken the steering apart and there are 2 wires but I dont know where they go Can anyone help.
Thanks, Len

The horn on most vehicles is switched on the negative...

So the horn will have a 12v feed to it, then the other connection makes it way to the steering wheel, and is grounded when you press the horn switch.

So you either have a chafed/damaged wire at the steering wheel , or that wire from the horn is somewhere accidently being shorted to 0V

i have i problem with my horn. where does the ground wire from the steering go ? i have to follow where tbe connection to the ground is broken. if i ground tbe horn at tve horn it works.
also how is the relay dupposed to be set up?
thanks

Operational Description

The horn system is supplied via horn relay T03, located in engine bay junction unit B001, via a direct line from the battery protected by control unit fuse F10.
Coil of relay T03 is excited by means of an earth signal when the steering wheel switch is closed. In versions with Air Bags, these connections are via a clock spring on stalk unit H005.
This signal reaches pin 21 of connector C of engine bay junction unit B001.
Relay T03 thus supplies horn P005 from pin 27 of connector C.
Horn P005 is connected to earth C010.

I can't post a diagram cos it's corrupted for some reason.

@filosoph , perhaps you could supply the version or model of your Ducato. If this is not known, then look for the first three numbers of the VIN.

The description would fit for an x244 Ducato, and I supect that it was obtained from 4cardata.
I am attaching the missing diagram for the x244, but I think that it only applies to the x244.

thanks i also just found this

but it seens somone previous to me has changed things around in the egine bay. i dont see any relay housing rather just well best i take a pic of it.

you mean this:
FIAT
CARIOCA 25
ZFA2300000570xxxx
xxx230 The first three numbers, often more important than year of registration.

The only diagrams that I hold for the x230 are extracted from the German language workshop manual, which is available in the downloads section. Unfortunately the authors did not include the horn. You may be able to use the eLearn diagram that I attached to post #7 as ageneral guide. The actual earth point for the horn button is not given, but I would expect it to be via the steering column support bracket.

Same result. I forget the technical explanation given by our geekish son, but text layer is grossly oversize. Cure is to load into a programme such as inkscape resize all text too a small size so as to make diagram readable, the enlarge text that has been over reduced. Add to that adjusting the diagram to fit an A4 page, and you have a very time consuming process.

I've seen that 'corruption' on a few other diagrams , I guess they can't be bothered fixing these errors on older docs
