Need some help/advice, please. I have a 2014 plate Fiat Ducato 35 Multijet MWB. There had been water ingress into the passenger side front lights...

A mechanic had drilled a hole to let the water out whilst he was replacing two seized glow plugs and since then there has been an intermittent noise which I thought was the motor from the headlight levelling mechanism.

I think this has led to a dead battery on a few occasions...

I have had the full headlamp unit replaced as shown in the images below yesterday. However, today the noise has reduced but still persists intermittently and in varying durations.

Tonight I went out to a dead battery again.

I have attached some videos of the noise below... Any ideas? Or am I completely on the wrong track... Recently had 2x glow plugs replaced due to being seized..

Thanks in advance.

Stephen

Hello,

Yes, it could be the leveling motor.

The x250 is known for water ingress into the engine bay through the system which should evacuate water from the windscreen. That could also be the cause of the glow plugs being seized...

The problem has been described on all of the forums. The solution is cleaning the drains, the plastic below the windscreen, glueing its parts together and putting new clips to attach it firmly in place. If you don't have it, get the engine plastic cover and a plastic cap on the power steering fluid reservoir.

As for the motor working too often, there could be a short in the motor, which led to a short in the module responsible for leveling :( But it could also be caused directly by water ingress into the engine bay. It gets into the connectors. Have you got any errors on MES? It could direct you to a faulty module.

Hi, Thanks for the quick reply.

Yeah, it seems from the forums that water ingress is a huge problem. I will give the drains a good look at tomorrow I've not been able to get anyone to check the error codes yet.

Thanks.

I sikaflexed my scuttle to windscreen and sealed middle joint top and bottom also both ends put 10mm lengths of rubber hose to evacuate the water down pass the engine Have a bit of wire to keep holes clear, been good last 2 years.
That's great, thanks for your advice.
