Hello :)

i hope you can help me, a lifter in my engine have break into pieces and damaged the cylinder head. so i am now in a lookout for a used replacement cylinder head.

my engine code is 8140.27 but could i potentially use a cylinder head with the engine code 8140.67 or 8144.67 etc that are similar to mine ? and also of a newer model year?, and for example if i find a replacement from a non turbo diesel would that cylinder head fit mine ?

Thanks for your help in this question & have a great day!

From distant memories of the past on Iveco Daily's with the Sofim engines 8140. series I fitted a 2.5 head onto a 2.8 were the valves had met the pistons, I seem to recall using the cam from the 2.8, but why I don't remember, it may have been for the illusion of more power.
At the time I had loads of spares as a son in law got me a pile of broken engines from a local mini bus company most were turbo charged, all still had injector pumps and most had broken engine blocks where the con rod had come out the side due to the stupid drivers abusing them and their mechanics had adjusted the full throttle side!!!
Two other points, one is on all the broken ones where the cam belt caused it, the valves hitting the pistons bent the con rod on that cylinder.
The other point is I think the 8144.67 is a different design so I doubt if any good.
Just had another thought given the age of your van 1991? it may be indirect injection so a totally different head and pistons to the later Direct Injection engines.
Also Iveco Daily RWD engines are different on the lower main bearing carrier so you can't use that engine in a Ducato FWD although many internal parts may interchange.
The ones I was involved with mainly dated from 1996 to 2006 roughly.
It may be possible, if available to fit the 2.8 itdi engine from a later Ducato (not the JTD as computer controlled injectors etc.
I may have technical service data on some of them giving torque settings etc. depending on engine series and so on.
I think all the 8140. series were basically the same design of engine block so should match your gearbox, though flywheel and clutch design may need checking.
If you go online and type Sofim 8140 engine and look at the section by wikipedia it gives you an idea of their dimensions and when each version was used.:)
