General Fiat Coupe staring problem

Hi Guys
Can anyone help, I've changed the starter motor on my Fiat coupe 2.0 16v but it is just clicking when turning over , what else could the problem be,

Will the car move if rocked in gear if not something may have stopped it from turning over.For example if a head gasket is going it may leak water into the bores overnight and the starter may not be able to turn it over as water does not compress, this is just one example.
