well, i've finally entering the property ladder and buying a house, so bye bye disposable income and new cars, so the gp has to go (spending money on new kitchens and other housey products...omg I'm getting old!) i may be trading down to an older car but i still want a toy to play with(y)
with 3 to 4k left to play with i've narrowed it down to two cars
a newest i can find 20v na fiat coop, or a newest i can get alfa gtv

as for the coop, i had one a few years back and loved it until someone kindly killed it with a side swipe, i don't want the extra expense of running a turbo version, as i said I'm getting old! not into racing other cars anymore, just want a car for the pleasure of driving.

as for the alfa..well i don't know as much about them. apart from the pretend boot:D some questions i have are do they have the same cam belt change trouble? and whats the ride and handling like compared to the coop? info would be appreciated.

still not sure which one to go for though I'm slightly favoring the coupe..mmmm

Get the coupe dude. There is loads of coupe owners near you (me being one of them) and there is a great support network on the fccuk.

Also the 20v N/A is the best in the range for reliability. But you could get a turbo.. :D

Have you checked the Fccuk for sale section? If your looking to go and view any i am usually available or im sure someone else would help from fccuk.

thanks, forgot to mention the house purchase is at the end of the month so won't be buying the new toy before then, gives me 3 or four weeks to decide before i buy

a quick thought, does the last of the line n.a coupes have 6 speed and a starter buttons like the turbo's?

both are money pits but the alfa more so,GP will cost you less in long run.
don't get me wrong the gp 1.9 sporting is an excellent car, and practical, but that's just it, practical, i don't go for drives in it like i did with other cars, i guess I'm a petrol head not a diesel head, and besides, i've spent most of my money on a deposit for the house, and it does need a new kitchen etc so half the money raised from the car sale goes to the house, the other on a toy, the house appreciates and cars generally don't, makes sense to me

fair enough its your call........just very few older alfas that dont need(or about too)big money spent on them.

Loads of bargain alfas (pre-reg etc) at garages as most are getting rid of alfa & still have stock to move;)

Dont know about the starter button. Its a tad gimicky anyways. The 6 speed is the turbos afaik.

i think you've talked me out of the alfa's, looks like another fiat is on the cards.

Good man!!! :D

Check those companys for quotes. As long as you keep it stnd i reckon you could get it for £900 FC.

Nothing wrong with the GTV! It's basically a Tipo with a pretty body... wait that's the coupe too :p

Have a look at a GTV with the nuvola blue... mmmmm

i've been checking out the gtv reviews and i must say they've been really strong, only real negative is the boot, then again the coops reviews are great too:bang: what's a boy to do?

n.a coop still winning so far or maybe i should go for a tipo:D

other outside contenders -stilo abarth selespeed, just out of the price range. for.....lots of toys...against...lots of toys to go wrong!
or on the other hand an alfa 156..mmmmmm

If you are doing it for economy, buy neither of these cars and stick with the diesel punto. It will save you money. If I had to choose I'd go for GTV but I am bias having owned one for a couple of "expensive" years. To quote JC cars like these are like russian hookers, looks to die for, the ride of your life but you are doing to wake up with a rash in the morning.

actually I'm doing it to raise some spare cash for the new house, so i can afford to be a little extravagant with a car, as long as it's not a total black hole!
the thing is if you want to treat yourself to a sports car, what is out there that delivers performance, driving thrills and looks on a mondeo budget? if you've got the answer to that then please let me know so i can buy one!

Mondeo's cost between free and about £24,000... where abouts are we aiming?

Also you're looking to raise cash by spending it on a car? Sorry but what?!
