Technical Fiat bravo 1.4sx 98 warning light

Hi wondering if anyone can help i have a 98 bravo 1.4sx theres a warning light that like a rod with spray that comes on occasionally, it makes the car slow down when it comes on and when it goes off it jolts forward and a couple of times the car has died when driving it, as in all dashboard lights cme on and engine cuts out and i have to restart car, any ideas what problem it can be before i take it to a garage, Many thanks.

Welcome to the forum

The warning light light that like a rod with spray is the ECU error warning light. If all the lights are coming on it sounds like there is an electical problem, I would check the battery terminals first then earth points, then ignition barrel/switch. Clean as many connections in the engine bay as you can with contact cleaner/WD40.

You could get a garage to read the error codes stored in the ECU if needed.
