Hi everyone,

I have been dismantling the Auxiliary and Timing Belts with the ultimate goal of replacing the water pump because it had leaks. I have finally reached her.

But the problem I find is that I can't extract it. It must be stuck, although it turns well.

I have tried to do some lever under the notchs with a screwdriver on rags and woods on the block. I don't want to do too much strength so as not to damage the aluminum motor block. But the pump seems welded :cautious:

Any idea?

Thank you

Look at the new pump,

Are there dowels (tubes) on there

That will make it tight 😉

The new water pump fits about 6mm and carries a slim channel for the O -ring. The old pump is stuck, I removed all the glue or universal joint of silicone from outside. I don't remember well, but I think that old pump can be the original '96.

By draining the antifreeze fluid circuit, nothing of oxide has come out, all clean and bright green.

Theoretically it should be something that comes easy with your hand. The problem is that I can't get it out. I have used the Stillson tool and the pump does not move at all.

Hi did you manage this as I have to get this done was this possible without removing the engine? Thanks
Yes, I managed to extract the water-pump.

I had to make some cuts at the edges of the pump with a "dremmel" tool, with the 1st intention of pull, cut and extract a higher segment from the top, but I couldn't. But this cuts let to support a chisel and hit it with a hammer longitudinally in the sense of the body, until the pump gets rotated, in a clockwise and anti-clockwise.

You have to be very careful because the accommodation wall in the aluminum motor block is very thin.

Patience and luck!

Thanks so you accessed it from the side wheel arch removing the wheel or underneath the car. A mechanic told me the engine had to be lifted? Gracias

Also my AC blowing warm any ideas if this connected to water pump. Could the temperature rising be due to the temp sensor? Thanks if anyone can help.

It is not necessary at all to extract the engine, at least in 1.4 12V. The timing belts and the water pump is accessed perfectly from above and from the wheel arch.

I understand that ECU (through Pin 23), deactivates the AC when the motor temperature is too high. Or with excessive demand for power (strong acceleration) and in Recovery function mode, when a sensor is damaged (NTC engine coolant temperature >96.5ºC). I think it occurs because when the NTC fails, the self -adaptation of the idle motor for the A/C is inhibited.

Yes it is connected. In my case the temperature rise (rose) because of leaks in the water pump. The water level descend and the thermoswitch at the top of radiator does not act (because air in the circuit). And the fan does not turn on and not refrigerates the 2 radiators (A/C and engine).

Thank you the water pump is good apparently because warm air heater working. The fan does not come on when temp rises so could be the reason no AC. I will try a cooling fan switch replacement before. There is a clicking from the compressor so not sure why. Se necesita mas pruevas gracias

The fan fuse is ok and worked when powered off the battery. Is there a fuse for the compressor alone.
