Technical Fiat 500c suddenly stopped,

Driving my Fiat 500c home and it just stopped. Every thing blank. Pulled handbrake on , started ignition all OK. Drove it for a further ten minutes all OK. Have a long journey tomorrow and worried it may happen on a motorway. Any ideas please.

Sounds like a bad main earth lead.

Sounds like a bad main earth lead.

That was my first thought too.
If everything went off, it has to be a main earth or supply. The earth cable, from battery to gearbox and body, is aluminium, and corrodes internally. It can look OK at the terminals, but be crumbling inside, and with sudden movement of the engine, such as a speed bump or large pothole, it disconnects.
Replacement is not too difficult, and everyone needs one at sometime.
First check though would be the battery terminals. They should be secure.
