General Fiat 500 US Sales Surge

Well let's hope they sort out the a/c problem - the Americans love their a/c and won't be too happy to discover that expensive problems will start to occur once the car is three/four years old. As as been suggested mesh would protect the condensor and Fiat should seriously think about designing something to protect the condenser.

I doubt that many US 500's will spend their lives on the motorway/freeway as yours has, so this is unlikely to be an issue.

I can't remember anyone else raising the issue in the last 2 years since I have been here.

What?

The article is a general overview of many brands, with the 500 getting only a tiny mention - it's a discussion of brands in general (GM, Ford, Kia, Hyundai, and Honda seemed the main ones). Definitely no mention of any "a/c problem" - possibly a mention (implied) of limited market appeal: "...its sole offering".

The HVAC system has been redesigned on the NAFTA Fiat 500 and it generally gets good reviews. Quite a large number of Fiat owners here in the US commute in the car (1-3 hours daily - 15,000 - 30,000 miles per year), and I haven't really heard of any issues. Of course, the NAFTA 500 has only been on the market for 1 year, so we'll see how it all pans out.
