I have a 2013 fiat 500 1.2 lounge, a few days ago the car started misfiring while I was travelling on a dual carriageway at around 70mph.. after doing diagnostics i had multiple warnings for cylinder 1 and multiple random cylinder misfires. I first of all had someone replace all 4 spark plugs.. the issue persisted. The next day I had a breakdown service out and they advised for me to install a new coil pack which I then installed which seemed to have fixed the issue.. after driving around for a while my engine light came on and it began misfiring. I cleared the codes and carried on and all was well. Until today, where while driving home it is now in a constant limp mode. Something's to note: I had an exhaust replacement last week. If I shut down the engine and restart it the engine line turns off and it runs smoothly for a few hundred yards till the issue begins again.. the issue doesn't occur at any particular speed or rev point which seems to rule out an ecu issue..if anybody has any suggestions or has experienced something similar I would love to hear back!

New plug leads? Check all connections, has the car had a new engine earth strap? How old is the battery, has the car had a new timing belt in the last year ?
Ideally read any new codes? To go into limp mode the car thinks serious damage may occur rather than say loosing the O2 sensor?

Hello! The new coil pack came with new leads which have been added. As far as I know it hasn't had a new earth strap, the battery was installed early this year pre sale. The cars timing belt is somewhat of a mystery as the only record of it in the service history was in 2018 where it had a "check". It could well be the original however I'm not sure. The O2 sensor is definitely something that's been on my mind as I saw a video where one was damaged during an exhaust replacement. Do you think it's worth having these replaced? And the same codes are reappearing

Hey, just wandering if you managed to sort the problem out? I am having exactly same issue with my 2018 Fiat 500x. Several mechanics tried to “fix it” charging quite pricey and… nope problem is still there…

Has the car had a replacement timing belt(if it even is a belt rather than a chain), there's issues on the 1.2 engine where if its not done correctly it can cause all sorts of running issues misfire being one of them?

I can’t see anything about timing belt in car history paperwork. It currently has 32k on clock so I don’t think it has ever been changed.

Although spark plugs were changed and battery, recent oil change and air filter - that’s all I am aware of

Was the problem straight after the exhaust fit? if not, I suspect plug leads etc. as has been previously suggested.
Who fitted the pugs, are the plugs correct...etc.etc.... was the coil pack a known make? or a spurious one?
If you are satisfied all is correct, then you need a diag specialist with the right gear (and knowledge) to proceed (imho)
just my thoughts, Yann.

Did you get to the bottom of this ?
