Fiat 500 Abarth - Boot open message when it's not

Wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

Currently my A500 tells me that my boot is open via message and warning light on my dash.

I've just changed the boot lock to see if that was the issue and it hasn't cured the problem. Previously the message was intermittent whilst driving, now it's constant.

Someone on Abarthisti mentioned it could be the wire going back into the car, don't really fancy dragging all of that out though. Anyone have any ideas as to a solution?

Only a guess, but is there a little contact switch (similar to the one that turns the interior lights on when the doors are opened)? Most likely cause, methinks.

Just a quick update on this. Changed the bootlick, where the microswitch was and still had the same issue.

So today we checked the loom as it comes through from the rear left of the car to the boot. This is what we found:

All sorted now. Not best pleased though...

This is a common problem with all 500's. There is a wiring loom available through fiat where you chop the loom behind the passenger side rear quarter. This problem causes many different faults.

It's a problem common to many hatchback cars, especially very small ones where there simply isn't the room to package a longer, less twisty route for the wiring to take.
