Hello
Being computer illiterate, please excuse me if I do not follow accepted protocols.
I am rewiring my fiat 500 110F, and having wired the headlights/ side lights/ and indicators, as per the wiring diagram. find that the indicators also act as the side lights , which is unacceptable to my m.o.t station. Although there is an aperture in the headlight housing for a side light bulb, there is no wiring to it.
In short, how do I fit side light bulbs in my headlights and adapt the wiring to operate said side light independantly of the indicator lights?
In anticipation that some one brighter than myself reads and understands the above , I look forward very much to any advise that you can offer.
Thanks a lot

I am assuming yours is an imported model from a Country with different regulations.
Assuming indicators work correctly when side lights off, then a feed will need to go from side light position on lighting switch to the front and rear side lights and the feed disconnected safely that is using indicators.
Hopefully the switches will accommodate this, or new correct switches will be required.
It may be easiest to get auto electrician to do this so that no chance of a short , burning out wiring loom etc.;)

Hi Richard; whilst I am NOT an auto-electrician, the MOT station is correct in 'failing' your car with the current set-up. The only side/indicator units now available are set-up for countries where the side-lamp and the indicator can be in the same unit. You say that there is an aperture for side-lamps in your headlamp units---I think that RICAMBIO will have the parts that you require to fit the side-lamp bulb-holder in the vacant aperture in your headlamp. I agree with "Bugsy" in that it would be wise to get an auto-electrician to look at the new wiring required; he may find that all he has to do is remove the SIDE-LAMP feed wire from the side-lamp unit and connect it to the bulb-holder (newly fitted) in the head-lamp. You WILL need to fit a double-filament bulb in what is going to become"just" an indicator lamp---from experience, I assure you, they do not work properly with a 'single-filament' bulb. I do not know how easy it is to get at double-filament orange bulb (the indicator HAS to be orange in the UK)---if you can't find a double-filament orange bulb you will have to use a white double-filament bulb and fit AMBER covers to the indicator unit---both white and amber covers fit the side-lame/indicator unit.

As @the hobbler mentions Mot station quite correct in failing that issue, as foreman of a Dealership in early 80s and also one of the Mot testers there I would occassionally have American cars in for a test and it was a regular fail for that reason, plus headlights dipping to the wrong side.
By the way were your headlights mentioned or is it from a Country driving like us on the left?

If you are going to all the trouble of rewiring the car I would also be inclined to have the front lights with UK spec. That is side/parking lights in the headlamps and orange indicators with single filament bulbs. The difference between the cheap front indicator/side lights which are not UK compatible and the metal backed units are like chalk and cheese. Look for the metal backed lights that have a single contact for the bulb.

Hello the hobbler
Thank you for your advise, and although I believe that I can follow your proposed modifications, asking the assistance of a car electronic engineer may be most sensible
Thanks again
