I recently decided to replace the shocks and springs on my Fiat 500 1.2 pop (2017) which has done 65K miles and I am not sure whether the parts I fitted are compatible.

After some research I decided to go with Monroe parts as they were a good price and came with a 5 year warranty. Using their parts finder on their website, and on various retail sites it seemed the correct part was SP3813 & SP3816. So I fitted these to the car. When fitting the rears I noticed the Monroe part was slightly shorter but fitted anyway.

(Existing springs are marked front: white/brown/green rear: brown/brown/yellow)

After noticing the issue with the rear springs I contacted Monroe. They looked up the part against my VIN and said that the parts listed for my VIN were actually SP4071 & SP4792.

Focussing on the rear springs lengths -

SP3816 Length = 274mm Wire Diameter = 11.5 mm ** recommended on Monroe website
SP4792 Length = 278mm Wire Diameter = 12.0 mm *** based on VIN lookup by Monroe staff
Existing Length = 295mm Wire Diameter = 11.0 mm

I am hoping someone can help with the following questions:

(1) What is the fiat part number for the spring on my car with markings Brown/Brown/Yellow ?

(2) Given that I have changed both the front and rear springs (and shocks), is it safe to assume the two parts listed on the Monroe website are compatible/matched with each other i.e. it is reasonable to leave on the car now? Will this cause problems?

(3) Coil Spring SP4792 is not only shorter than my spring, it is thicker (12.0mm compared to 11.0mm).

Any help with this situation would be very much appreciated.

I wouldnt worry, thicker coils shorter spring thinner longer a quick look on Ebay has 12mm by 277
Thanks for taking the time to read all that and reply. What you said above makes sense. Monroe also came back to me and said fiat had appeared to have simplified their spring range for my car and recommended I stick with the set they recommend on their site. They also look and drive fine on the car so hopefully all good.
