I’m seeking advice regarding an issue with my 2021 Fiat 500X 1.0 Firefly engine.
A couple of weeks ago, the car went into limp mode and displayed fault code P06DD – Engine oil pressure control circuit performance/stuck in Off position. I cleared the code, but it quickly returned. (Revs won’t go past 3000 rpm, although overall performance doesn’t seem badly affected.)
So far, I’ve:
I took the car to my local garage (the mechanic is very good with diagnostics), and we discussed the next steps. He:

So far, I’ve:
- Changed the oil and filter twice
- Cleared the code again (but it keeps returning)
I took the car to my local garage (the mechanic is very good with diagnostics), and we discussed the next steps. He:
- Checked the oil pickup in the sump (it was clean)
- Ran engine cleaner through again (the oil wasn’t great despite being changed only a few miles previously)
- Tested oil pressures across the rev range to monitor performance
- Since the fault is intermittent, I didn’t want to replace the oil pump right away
- My plan is to change the Oil Pressure Sensor next before taking it back to the garage
Thank you,
Howie
