Well this is my first ever post on here but i have been looking through ever since i had my bravo, well im 16 and im the youngest in my year so all my mates have got all there cars already so i thought i would make sure mine was looking pretty mint and well i've done minor things to the car like tinting the windows and fitting a sound system but now i want to more i have bought a bodykit for the car but i dont have a clue how to do it.

also i have taken out things like the centre dash and other various parts of the interior and i had planned on spraying them white, but obviously i have gone wrong somewhere along the way, i used about 3-4 layers of primer and then about 3 layers of white gloss but the thing is the end result looks hideous the paint is all cracked, im guessing i will have to sand it all down and start again or is there some quick fix to this??? like a couple more layers and a laquer or some thing?

Cheers

Fisrt off welcome to BOO
The cracking on the paint sounds to me like youve used standard primer and paint
Plasatic moves and needs to be primered and painted useing something specifically for plastic
Try useing the search above to see if anyone else has posted about the same thing in the past.

re

ignore the above, i've always used normal primer and paint on my dash fine. . .

i woudl say you didnt clean it off/sand it a bit first and there was soem dash cleaner chemical reacting to the paint?

or your primer and paint /laquer dont like each other or werent dry properly.

as for bodykit, depends on the kit, some are swap bumpers, some are bonded on, then smoothed in if you choose.

@ allan trust me ate when i say youre lucky then cos ive never seen a plastic bit painted with normal primer last more than a few months, all the time i worked in a body shop it was always done one way and one way only and thats to use a clear coat plastic primer then normal primer then paint etc, not having a dig like just saying youre lucky.

it will probably be easyer to buy new bits mate

re

lol must of been fairly lucky then i guess!

all i didi was sand down a touch then wipe over with thinners then paint!

you were very lucky mate lol thinners reacts with alot of different plastics lol bloody hell lol

re

lol i know, my brother cleaned off some side repeaters from an old suzuki swift with some thinners and they melted when he came back! lol

make the thin wipe over made my plastic take the primer? dunno!
