This is the kind of lowlifes who end up with their hackneys...
Waiting for the bus back home from the folks, just an hour or so ago. There's an old railway line at the end of my folk's street. Quite popular with dog walkers, horse riders and us cyclists. Even at 10pm it's surprisingly busy.
So there's me, waiting for the bus. I'd been aware of a guy out walking his dog as I made my way to the stop. Next thing I know, this guys shouting on his dog - he's been walking it off the lead or whatever, and the dogs sense of adventure has sent it straight for the main road. Which has a 30mph limit.
Next thing I saw was a taxi heading up the road, straight for the dog. Now at this point he's a good distance from the dog, and has plenty time to avoid it. He makes a faint effort to break, backs off the brakes, applys them again but it's too late. Hits the poor thing.
Now at this point, most of us would surely make more of an attempt to stop and make sure whatever we've hit is ok? Not this arsehole. He carries on, despite the rather loud and obvious noise of something making contact between the tar and his bumper. Carries this on for maybe 10-20 feet or so. Then stops, allowing the dog just enough time to free itself (thankfully) before ****ing off.
Regardless of the in's and out's of the Highway code, surely the least this guy could have done was stop to make sure the dog was ok?
I didn't catch the guys plate unfortunately, but I hope karma catches up with him.
