Which ECU are you reading and what are you using to read the codes?

The reason I ask is fault codes that start with the letter P usually start at 0100. eg P0100

Codes that have 0001 or 0002 usually begin with the letter U and refer to the cars CAN network.

P0001 Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit/Open
P0002 Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit Range/Performance
P0003 Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit Low

1st digit
P = Powertrain
B = Body
C = Chassis
U = Network

2nd digit
0 = Standard
1 = Manufacturer specific

3rd digit
1 = Emission management
2 = Injector circuit
3 = Ignition*
4 = Auxiliary emission
5 = Vehicle speed & idle control
6 = Computer & output circuit
7 = Transmission

4th & 5th Digit
Specifc Fault in System

Fiat don't use these old generic codes, in fact according to an internet search I just did no manufacturers do anymore.

P0001 Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit/Open

　　- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

　　Tech notes
　　The P0001 is an OBDII generic code, but almost none of the vehicle manufactures use it. If you are getting this code, make sure you are using the correct OBDII code scanner for your vehicle's make and model.

　　P0001 Description
　　Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit/Open is the generic definition for the P0001; however your vehicle's manufacturer may have a different definition for the P0001 code.

P0001 could mean pretty much anything, that's why I asked what he was using to read the codes.

up to P999 the codes are standardised for all manufacturers, from P1000 upward they are manufacturer-specific.

Manufacturers use from P0100 onwards and they are manufacturer specific in most cases as far as I know. P0999 and below were old generic codes used by all manufacturers but they are now no longer used, so what ever code reader he is using must be an old one I guess.
