FAO Tom - Wiring

Tom,
is it possible I could fit a switch to the dash, and hack into the foglight wiring loom. I can't find the dash switched for the HLX / HGT anywhere and I don;t fancy buying from FIAT.

My car already has the fog wires in the bumper and an can easily get a relay, I just need a switch.

Go to Maplins and buy a switch, you will also need a relay as well.
Any old switch will do, just as long as it has illumination. You need to know when they are on after all.
The switch for the fronts goes next to the rears, you may find that the wiring for the switch is already there and all you have to do is cut the connector off and wire it into your new switch.

I would try to get a proper switch though as an aftermarket one could well spoil the look of the dash, unless you hide it somewhere.

I doubt it would cost much from Fiat, always worth trying them.

They want £70.00 mate. I hear you on the case of effing up the dash. I have seen some flush fit ones. Do u know what relay I need?

I always go to scrappies, but a lot of my local ones have been closed down for new housing development projects.

£70 for a fog light switch? No way.
£70 must be for a fog light kit, surely?

Well, I have just rung up my local dealers and they quoted £44:96 (add on thed readed VAT of course) Now apparently the little panel where the fog and hrw switch is comes as a complete unit, so if you quote your chassis number you will get exactly what you already have, a panel with no front fog switch.
I have a HGT so the panel for that is part number 715-179614, this comes with a switch for:
Front Fog, Rear Fog, HRW and also a lovely little red flashing LED for the alarm.
I asked if you could get the switch on it's own and you can't
Now I am also gonna have to assume that if you went to a breakers you would have to get one out of an HLX or HGT as they will be the only ones that have the front fogs as standard.
The only time I have been pleasantly surprised by Fiat prices was when I had to get a new centre for an alloy, it was less that £2:50, everything else is a rip off
