Nick

Check this http://search.stores.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll?MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&sid=28857359&store=Waxacar+Car+Styling&colorid=6&fp=0&query=bass+box+carpet&srchdesc=y

£4.99 bass box carpet :)

Another idea, instead of making a full shelf, do what I did. I had the holes cut in my original shelf. Put the speakers in a piece of MDF then screwed it to the underside of the shelf. I then re-covered the top of the shelf.

It looks like the original from the top.

hmm an interesting idea - wimmy so your speakers are covered by the "new" layer of carpet you put on?
worht looking into - though the mdf shelf idea would cost me £16 to do completely - where as if i fook up the shelf could cost me the price of a new shelf!!
i dont know what to do!! :S

Re: Re: Re: Re: FAO Alan (from sheffield)

The speakers are not just covered. They were originally sitting on the shelf with the holes cut in but didnt want the 'brick invite to the back window'. As you can see in the pick, there is a piece of mdf under the original shelf. I cut the holes in this and covered it, then mounted the speakers inside it. The mdf piece (with speakers in) when then screwed to the original shelf which had the 6x9 holes already cut. The carpet was just spray glued on the top (carefully avoiding the speakers).

I got the subs from Car Shack (part of motorworld) They were retailing at £10 each at one point. I've had them for around 2 years now and know that mine have now been replaced by the Boss Atlantis range.

You may still be able to pick them up somewhere.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: FAO Alan (from sheffield)

Using a square piece of mdf is a lot easier than shaping a piece to the shape of your shelf. My woodwork skills are awful. If you look at the centre box with my amp on, that was 'supposed' to be the same shape as my sub boxes. Oooops
