I recently bought a fiat uno 1.5 95, and when i turn the car off, inmediatelly the fan kicks in for about 5 minutes and then it shuts down.

also in the last few days, the temp warning light is coming on randomly after a few miles, but the engine seems to be cool.

Please let me know if this is the normal behaviour and if not where to start looking for the problem

thanks to all

It is normal for the fan to kick in, or stay on, when the ignition is turned off. Mine does this; slightly disconcerting at first, but normal when you get used to it! :D

As for the warning light, either you have a faulty temperature gauge (showing a low temp when it should be high) or a faulty temperature sensor (again, showing low when it should be high).

When you say the engine seems to be cool, is that the physical heat from the engine, or the temperature sensor reading? The temperature gauge should stay a the middle and go no higher when you are travelling.

Welcome to the forum by the way!
Where in the world are you? I hope it's not New Zealand! ( :p )

I don't Acugar will be New Zealand, no such thing as a 1995 Uno here :)
And no such thing as a 1.5L Uno either, except Unos that have been fitted with X1/9 or Strada engines, of which I guess there will be a few.

So I'm guessing Acugar might be somewhere like Sweden or Germany, except that they wouldn't have a 1995 Uno either. And in South Africa the Uno only came with 999, 1108, or 1372cc. Can't wait to learn the answer!

Anyway, on with the remaining question. Is there only a temp warning light and no temperature gauge? Or is there both a gauge and a warning light? If there is only a light, that's even more mysterious as I've only seen that on base-model Uno 45 FIREs here in NZ.

The light would come on if the wire to the sender was earthed. Therefore, you have to look for chafing/damage to the wire. The sender will be on the cylinder head - impossible to say where without knowing which engine this 1.5L is.

Thank you guys for welcoming to the forum and for answering my questions... I checked the sensor and it felt a little bit loose, so i fixed and it is all good.

As for my location, i am in Costa Rica, Central America, my Fiat in a 95 UNO fabricated in Brazil, 1.5L and i love it...

I will be posting on the forum a lot of questions that i have, thanks for your help!!!
