General Fan belt Snapping

The fan belt snapped the other day, I had a new one fitted, then this morning I started the car heard a clicking noise them the new belt snapped. Anybody have any ideas why this has happened?

either a bad bearing on it's run ( alternator),
or check for any wear on it's rear face ( worn away lettering..??)
