Looks like toyota could be pulling out

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8341602.stm

BBC News said:
Toyota is to hold a press conference at 0800 GMT on Wednesday amid reports that it is to quit Formula 1.

Japanese media claims that the world's largest car manufacturer is set to leave F1 in an attempt to cut costs.

Toyota has not won a grand prix since making its F1 debut in 2002 and finished fifth in the constructor championship this season.

Williams announced last month that it would be replacing its Toyota engine with a Cosworth for next season.

Cosworth coming back!!!!! :slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer:

I think you'll find THE most beautiful car on the grid has NEVER used a Cosworth engine ;)

With due respect to Keith Duckworth and the genius that was the DFV

I'm almost glad to an extent Toyota's finally buggering off. I mean, the amount of money they threw at the team and almost nothing was achieved apart from a bunch of podiums. I mean, they thought it'd be a good idea to put Ralf "diluted version of Michael" Schumacher in their car for more than ONE SEASON(!) They just never grabbed me as an interesting team that could actually do anything great with the money they were given.

Saying that though, Honda had similar issues when they took over BAR. At least they won a race though and were making progress when the manufacturer left. Toyota's just been an "almost there" team for far too long now.

Still though, I am sorry for the workers in the team.

toyota were the most boring team ever in f1.

they achieved nothing tbh, despite having the biggest budget.

i wonder if they actually have the poorest points per £ spent total in the history of f1?, certainly have to be close!, they must have blown all their budget on over-rated drivers, Rofl shoemaker, yawn-oh trulycantbebothered.

won't be missed.

shame for the workers though, not their fault the operation was flawed from the top.

fwiw, they should have went with less experienced drives on a quarter of teh wage and spent the money on a decent aerodynamicist and a chassis designer, there was never anything wrong with the power their engines put out.

Indeed, the money was going to the wrong places LIKE the drivers. There were flashes of brilliance, which were then well and Trulli fumbled (had to do that one :D ).

I remember when BAR were about to be taken over by Honda, they were starting to come good. The number of podiums and the like Button got in 2004 was brilliant for example. But then as soon as Honda bought out the team, the budget increased and the teams fortunes went down hill.

The only team to vaguely make good with full manufacturer backing and running of the team was BMW last year really. Seems like most end up having loads of issues with the interaction of those back in the board rooms at the car makers HQ and the people on the team who build/run/drive the cars.

Oh well, more new teams next year and I'm sure they'll enjoy propping up the back of the grid. It's a bit of a cynical statement, but unless there's been masses of development on a car, it's just not going to be competitive in F1. Will be good to hopefully see a fuller grid though. Looking back at the season reviews from the 80's, it was crazy the number of cars taking part back then
